March – trip to Torcal

The SOL CCC , was very fortunate with the weather for their Saturday car run, enjoying a beautiful, sunny day. It was a pleasure to drive through the countryside, where we passed a classic VW Beetle car club and a classic motorcycle club along the way. Although we couldn’t make it up to the Torcal viewpoint due to the crowds on the only sunny day, we found a wonderful alternative stop on the other side of the mountains at Restaurante Museum Molino Blanco—an absolutely incredible place. It was a special treat to see the countryside in full bloom, lush and green. After an interesting drive around El Chorro, we regrouped for a delightful stop with Cava and strawberries before continuing on to a traditional Spanish lunch in the countryside. A big thank you to everyone who attended and a special thanks to Marion and Geordie for organizing such a fantastic run! If you would like to join us on our tips, visit our website SOLclassiccarclub.com or contact us via Facebook on SOL Classic car club. You are also welcome to come to our Social lunch, every second Wednesday of the month at an excellent restaurant Vista Lago by Blue Label.

February – romance on the road

Classics and Romance on the road Valentine’s car run on Saturday, took us through the stunning Malaga countryside, Andalusia’s most beautiful white villages like Alora, Casarabonela, Alozaina and Yunquera. The scenic drive, occasionally through some unknown roads, took us to a picturesque photo spot with a charming view of the white village of Tolox in the distance.  The day’s adventure, filled with laughter and a spirit of friendship, concluded with an excellent lunch at Umami Restaurant. If you are interested you can follow our FB group. A special thanks to Martin Hall and Gwen Howe for organising this activity for the club. Reported by Gabriela Green

Malaga Retro 2025

Malaga Retro classic car show is the biggest event in the calendar. Visitor with their cars are coming from all over corners and far beyond Andalusia. This year cars on display were excellent celebration to motorism over the decades. You could find various treasures/bits for your cars and motorbikes in the main indoor area. But the most interesting part, as always, are the cars inside in the car park. The interest was bigger than last time. It was a pleasure to see it. Here are some pictures for you.

The Almond Bloom car run

January 2025 On the Saturday 18.January a group of 17 cars met up at Venta El Tunel, just north of Malaga and enjoyed a drive of just over one hundred kilometers through the mountains. Two rest stops where included, the first for coffee and the second our customary Cava stop before dropping down to the coast and culminating at Miraflores Golf with another wonderful meal. The drive took in some of the most spectacular scenery with expansive mountain and sea views. The early rains this winter have turned the mountains into a series of amazing vistas each of which would be the envy of a landscape painters pallet and every turn of the road opened up more spectacle. We are truly lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. We finished by excellent lunch in Miraflores Golf Clubhouse. Big thank you to Mike Glithero, who organised it for us. December – Xmas Festive Lunch

SOL CCC 20th Anniversary Year Christmas Party The SOL Classic Car Club – in its 20th Anniversary year – held their Christmas party by joining the JAG Enthusiasts Club at the Green Label restaurant at the El Chapparal Golf Clubhouse. It is our favorite restaurant and the management has always prepared something special for us. An excellent choice of high quality food was enjoyed by all, in a happy seasonal atmosphere with much fun, merriment and hours of dancing to the great singing of Nuria Lima. It was fabulous to see racing personality Win Percy at the party. His motor racing career is legendary having spanned 40 years worldwide until a career ending injury in 2002. He won multiple British championships in the 1980s, then major events in Australia – both driving and running teams for Tom Walkinshaw – in many different Mazdas, Datsuns, Holdens and Jaguars. His Jaguar escapades included the 24 Hours of Le Mans races and 4 wins at the first 24 Hour Le Mans Classic meeting in a 1950`s Jaguar D Type. Both clubs wish all members, friends and families a happy and healthy 2025. Report by Mike Glithero

November – Frigiliana

Frigiliana, is one of Spain’s most famous white villages, with an interesting history, involving caves, water canyons and Europe’s only factory producing sugar cane honey. Many tourists come for the views, tapas and artisan shopping. After the rain, the SOL Classic car club had the most amazing day on Saturday 16 of November.  Perfect day for our monthly car run. Organising this month trip was not without uncertainty, due to the weather. Also getting to a start point, was for some of us already 1h journey from the other side of Malaga. The coast road from Torrox to Nerja was sunny and enjoyable, then we went up the mountains to Frigiliana. It was pleasure to see the mountains and the blue sky again. We parked on the top of the view point and displayed our cars to the enjoyment of the locals and tourists.  A big thank to Nick Wadham Sutton for organizing this with the local Police. Thank you to John Richardson for leading this car run and organizing the lunch.
